A Time to Give Thanks … and to Give Back.
November is the month of giving – a time to give thanks … and to give back. The spirit of Thanksgiving is about showing gratitude and helping those who are less fortunate than us.
Giving thanks is a wonderful way to inspire others, and remind everyone of the good in the world. It brings together community, family and friends.
Many of us express our thanks during the holiday season by volunteering, donating, and spreading kindness. A few ways to contribute are:
– Give to your local food bank
– Visit an elderly neighbor who is alone
– Cook a meal for a single mom or dad
– Volunteer
– Do a random act of kindness
– Pay it forward!
“Gratitude means thankfulness, counting your blessings, noticing simple pleasures, and acknowledging everything that you receive. It means learning to live your life as if everything were a miracle, and being aware on a continuous basis of how much you’ve been given.” ~ Marelisa Fábrega
At NeoGenesis Inc. we want to honor and give thanks to the following non-profit organizations that are near and dear to our hearts.
Beauty Bus Foundation – Beauty Bus is a Los Angeles based non-profit that provides dignity, hope and respite to chronically and terminally ill men, women and children – and their caregivers through beauty and grooming treatments and pampering products.
Beauty Bus is a labor of love in memory of Melissa Marantz Nealy, who lost her battle to a degenerative neuromuscular disease when she was 28, only six months after she walked down the aisle at her wedding. When Melissa was sick and could not go to a salon or spa, the beauty treatments her family arranged at home made her feel “human again.” Melissa’s family founded Beauty Bus to bring this same dignity to patients and caregivers when they need it most.
Mondays at Racine – For over ten years, the staff of Racine has looked for a way to provide support and comfort to people receiving treatment for cancer. In 2003, they created the Mondays at Racine cancer care program, which provides complimentary services and supportive therapies every Monday.
Mondays at Racine‘s vision is to change the face of cancer utilizing the skills of the beauty industry.
By creating a national movement providing education and programs that work alongside conventional medical protocols, millions of people all over the country and world will be able to heal more effectively.
Suite HOPE (Helping Oncology Patients Esthetically) a newly formed non-profit founded by Makeup Artist Jeanna Doyle. Suite HOPE’s mission is to provide women with the education and support they need to address the changes in their appearance that occur during cancer treatment. Through Suite HOPE, women receive the means to optimize their physical being and esthetic qualities, thus empowering them to maintain a positive attitude from diagnosis through treatment and recovery, survivorship and beyond.
Looking and Feeling FAB. Inc. – Looking and Feeling FAB, Inc. was founded in 2013 by a Massachusetts Aesthetician, Holly Brown who received certification in Oncology Aesthetics.
Looking and Feeling FAB, inc. provides comfort and relief for those who have undergone treatments for cancer and developed skin side effects impacting overall health and well-being. Licensed Aestheticians who are Oncology trained use safe chemical free products to combat skin side effects such as radiation burns, rashes, itchiness, redness, severe dryness etc. that develop from chemotherapy, radiation, surgery or non-cancerous medications.
“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” ~ Melody Beattie
Happy Thanksgiving!
